Biography
I started cycling in late 1999 with my father who had been a very great
cyclist himself winning bronze in the Commonwealth Games in the sprint
and representing at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics and many world
championships in the Australian team.
Since a very young age at home I was surrounded by cyclists during big carnivals and so on. I had a short stint at BMX for a year but before I started cycling I played cricket, football and basketball, which was my favourite.. I played basketball at a very high level from around about 7 to 14 years old and found that towards the end I was not enjoying it enough to continue, so I approached my dad about cycling.
At first he was very apprehensive but deep down I knew he would be so proud if did do cycling like he had done. I started off at Carnegie Caulfield Cycling Club on an old farm gate and my career had started. I went on many trips away like the Christmas carnivals and so on. I won my first medal at the Victorian titles at Northcote now the home of Victorian Cycling (DISC). I won the gold medal in the sprint against my best mate Michael Ford who went on to pursue a great road cycling career and since then I have never looked back.
I love cycling after all I have made so many great friends and met my beautiful soon to be Wife Kristine Bayley through cycling.
